Lt. Col. Wilbanks
Lt. Colonel Wilbanks, the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor of the Wylie East JROTC program, intends to build leadership and citizenship in his students. His goals for the cadet corps are continuous growth/improvement, and to earn the Outstanding Unit once more. His desire for being an SASI is to mentor young cadets. During his involvement in the military, he felt a need for a mentor, and now wants to give back and be the mentor who is needed by cadets. Colonel Wilbanks graduated from North Texas State University (UNT) and participated in college ROTC. Feeling a “burning desire” to be a pilot, Colonel Wilbanks then dedicated 22 years to the Air Force. Coming on to his 15th year as a SASI, Colonel Wilbanks strives high for the corps and offers opportunities and mentorship to cadets-there is no military obligation, but opportunities are available.
